Ten priority fields in Vietnamese Fulbright scholar program 2012

CPV: The Fulbright Program in Vietnam under the US Embassy in Hanoi on April 20 begins its recruitment for qualified candidates for the 2012 Vietnamese scholar program.

The Vietnamese Scholar Program (VSP), one of the four traditional components of the Fulbright Program in Vietnam, provides grants to Vietnamese scholars to lecture and/or research at American institutions or universities for three months up to nine months.

Applicants from all fields are welcome to apply but priority will be given to the fields: higher education administration, foreign policy, law, public health, public administration, American studies, urban planning and development, women’s studies, environmental studies and policy, and economics (including international economics and agricultural economics).

Successful applicants of the VSP are provided with a stipend and living expenses for the full term of the grant and also transportation to and from the US. The Fulbright Program in Vietnam in coordination with the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) helps place scholars at appropriate host institutions in the US.

The VSP actively encourages women, minorities and residents from all provinces to apply and it is open to all candidates who qualify through open competition on the basis of academic and professional merit without regard to race, religion, gender or affiliation. Priority is given to candidates under the age of fifty.

Individuals interested in applying for the VSP must: hold an MA. or Ph.D. degree (or equivalent degree in some specific professionals); be Vietnamese citizens and have English skills adequate to conduct their research and/or lectures in the US.

The online application form is available at http://vietnam.usembassy.gov/fvsc.html, deadline is October 15, 2011.
